Affiliate Disclosure

Amber Autos is, first and foremost, a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) based in Southend-on-Sea. We scrap cars, dismantle them properly, and sell quality used parts. Alongside the yard, we run a blog with practical guides for car owners and DIY mechanics — and some of those posts contain affiliate links. This page explains what that means and how it works.
The short version
Some links in our blog posts are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products we genuinely rate — commission doesn't change what we suggest.
Programmes we're part of
Amazon Associates
Amber Autos is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk. As an Amazon Associate, Amber Autos earns from qualifying purchases.
We use Amazon affiliate links primarily for tools and electronics — items like OBD2 scanners, jump starters, battery testers, multimeters and similar products where Amazon has the widest range and fastest delivery.
eBay Partner Network
Amber Autos is a member of the eBay Partner Network. As an eBay Partner, we may be compensated if you make a purchase through links to eBay on our site.
We use eBay affiliate links primarily for car parts and used components, where eBay's marketplace of independent sellers and breakers offers the best fit for our readers — including parts we list ourselves from our Southend dismantling yard.
How affiliate links work
An affiliate link contains a small tracking tag (for example, ?tag=amberautos-21 on
Amazon links). When you click the link and complete a purchase within the retailer's tracking window,
the retailer credits Amber Autos with a small commission — usually a few percent of the sale value.
The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or not. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not yours.
Our editorial position
We pick products to feature based on whether they're genuinely useful for the kind of jobs our readers are doing — diagnosing a misfire, testing a battery, deciding whether a part is worth replacing yourself. We don't accept payment from manufacturers to write posts, and commission rates don't influence which products we recommend.
Where we recommend a product, it's because either we've used it ourselves at the yard, or it's the consensus pick from mechanics and reviewers we trust. Where we'd recommend buying a specific part used rather than new, we'll say so — even if there's no affiliate commission in it for us.
Why we do it
Running the blog costs time. Affiliate commissions help cover that cost so we can keep producing practical, honest guides without filling every page with ads or selling email addresses to third parties. We treat the blog as part of our service to the local community of car owners and DIY mechanics, not as a separate revenue machine.
What we won't do
- Recommend products we wouldn't use ourselves just because the commission's good
- Pretend a sponsored or paid placement is an independent recommendation
- Hide affiliate relationships in microscopic grey text — every Tools & Guides post carries a clear disclosure at the top
- Sell or share your data with affiliate partners
Questions?
If you've got a question about our affiliate practices, drop us a line at info@amberautos.club or give the yard a call on 01702 612000. We're happy to explain anything that isn't clear.
